Known for his portrayal of Thor, Chris Hemsworth is one of the most famous Australian actors in the world – but some fans have forgotten that he shot to fame in Home and Away
Although these days Chris Hemsworth is known for his Hollywood career and portraying a very hunky Thor, before he shot to global fame he had a soap role and was a resident of Summer Bay.
Shooting to prominence as Kim Hyde in the Australian television series Home and Away from 2004 until 2007, during his soap stint Chris’ character was embroiled in many strong storylines.
While portraying Kim, Chris, now 39, was involved in a huge paternity scandal alongside Scott Hamblin (Kip Hunter) after the two both had a fling with Hayley Smith (Bec Hewitt).
During his Home and Away stint he even won a Logie for Most Popular New Male Talent in 2005.

Naked towel scene
Chris stripped down and showed off his impressive physique when he starred as Kim Hyde
In one very memorable scene Chris appeared on-screen while completely stark naked in his twenties.
Wearing nothing but a tiny towel wrapped around his waist to conceal his modesty, Chris looked very proud to be showing off his ripped physique.
Standing naked, Chis’ muscles, abs and pecs could be seen in full view – which no doubt left viewers feeling hot under the collar.
Looked ripped and wet after just having a shower, this sizzling snapshot from his portrayal of Kim will forever be imprinted on our minds.
Unrecognisable hair transformation

Bearing in mind that he was just 20 when he shot to fame as Kim, it seems obvious that Chris would look different – but it still shocks us somehow.
When Chris starred in Home and Away he resembled a surfer boy with his long blonde hair and chunky highlights.
These days we know Chris for his facial hair and short back and sides – which obviously depends on what kind of movie or TV show he is shooting for at the time.
In Thor he can be seen sporting long blonde locks, while in his everyday life he has a shorter and neater cut.
Returning as an extra after Hollywood fame
After finding Hollywood fame, Chris didn’t forget where he came from.
Despite being a global heartthrob he returned to the set of Home and Away in November 2014 to film a scene in the Pier Diner.
He didn’t reprise his original role however, and was just an extra.
In his scene as an extra, he was seen at a table in the background while wearing a black baseball cap.
He appeared in the episode and it was broadcast in May 2015.
