Nicolas Cage and Keanu Reeves may have a good relationship off-screen, but Cage recently revealed that he does have one thing that gives him mixed feelings about the John Wick 4 actor. While taking part in a Reddit Ask-Me-Anything ahead of the release of his horror-comedy Renfield, Cage addressed how a billiards game between the pair ended up with Reeves thrashing him with some “impossible shots.”

He explained:

“Well…Keanu kicked my ass at billiards one night. He came up to my house on his motorcycle, and he was making these impossible shots. He said “‘ow I dunno if I can get that shot or this shot,’ and he made every single shot. So I have mixed emotions about the skill that Keanu has because he completely dominated me at pool. I like some of the early stuff like Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. I thought he was great in River’s Edge. He was just great in that movie, yeah.”

While Cage may have been irked by his sporting defeat, it is obviously all in good humor and could well be deserving of a rematch in future if either star can fit it into their busy schedules.

Nicolas Cage and Keanu Reeves Are Looking For Box Office Success This Spring

Last weekend saw Keanu Reeves return to the top of the box office with John Wick: Chapter 4, the latest instalment of the popular action franchise in which Reeves plays the titular dog-loving assassin. The film has already scored a record win for the franchise on its opening weekend, and with glowing reviews from both critics and audiences alike, it seems that John Wick 5 could be on the cards in future.

For Nicolas Cage, this April sees the ever versatile actor taking on the role of Dracula in Renfield, Universal’s latest reimagining of the characters of Bram Stoker’s novel. This time the focus of the movie is not on the bloodsucking Count, but on his put-upon servant Renfield, who is played by Nicholas Hoult. The modernized take on the Dracula legend sees Cage playing a less-than-appealing boss who seems make it his purpose to be horrible to his employee, who in return wants to break free of his master’s clutches.

It is hard to gauge exactly how well Renfield will do at the box office in the current uncertainty. The film itself is giving off some positive vibes and Cage has certainly been doing his best to drum up interest in Universal’s latest attempt to reinvent their Monsters franchise. The actor has even been touting a possible prequel spin-off that turns the focus onto his Dracula. He previously said:

“This is the perfect amount of time for Dracula in this movie, but I wouldn’t mind exploring how did Dracula become Dracula? How did you become that guy? I want to take the time to portray that, to see how he got there. To me, Dracula was always [about] love and exile. He’s unrequited love, and ultimately, if you don’t get love back, you’re gonna go bad. I want to look at that.”
