Man Utd adds three players to its Europa League roster before its match against Barcelona

Man Utd have submitted a new squad list to UEFA ahead of the remainder of the Europa League and there are three new faces included.

United have added Marcel Sabitzer to their Europa League squad

Man Utd have added January signings Jack Butland, Marcel Sabitzer and Wout Weghorst to their Europa League squad.

The three new additions are all eligible to face Barcelona in the two-leg play-off fixture later this month, with a trip to the Nou Camp on February 16 and the return at Old Trafford on February 23.

Christian Eriksen remains on the United squad list despite picking up ankle injury that could rule him out until May and Donny van de Beek is still included despite being out for the season, but Martin Dubravka and Cristiano Ronaldo have been removed after they both left the club in January.

United have also removed Axel Tuanzebe from their squad after the academy graduate joined Stoke City on loan for the remainder of the season, while there is still no place for the injured Phil Jones or for full-back Brandon Williams.

United submitted a maximum 25-man squad to UEFA at the start of the season so had to remove three players to allow the new signings to be registered.

The deadline to submit a new squad list to UEFA was 11pm on Thursday night and no changes to the senior squad can now be made for the rest of the season. Amendments can be made to the B list of players, which is those born on or after January 1, 2001 and trained by the club for two years since they turned 15.

Butland joined the club on loan from Crystal Palace after Dubravka decided to return to Newcastle United and he is likely to play the role of third-choice goalkeeper between now and the end of the season.

United signed Weghorst on loan from Burnley after Ronaldo’s contract was ripped up before the transfer window opened. Sabitzer joined from Bayern Munich on deadline day after the extent of Eriksen’s injury became clear.
