Ryan Reynolds admits he’s risking a lot with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine return in Deadpool 3

One of the biggest reveals in the comic-book world came around when Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman announced the return of the beloved Wolverine to the silver screen one more time.

Even though worries were aroused among fans considering the massive tonal difference between the two characters, Ryan Reynolds assures fans about the future of the movie without sacrificing the characters defining elements.

The iconic characters from the X-men franchise are ready to make their jump into the mainline MCU and both the actors are pretty excited and have shared regular updates with fans through their social media.

Although Ryan Reynolds shared his enthusiasm to work with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, there is a bit of concern regarding the tonal difference between the characters, as Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool is more wisecracking, fourth-wall-breaking on screen while the clawed mutant bears a gruff and largely no-nonsense persona. Reynolds addressed the issue of their radical differences in an interview with The Wrap, as he went on to state,

“I think it’s a tightrope walk. I mean most of these movies are always a tightrope walk of tone, so in this instance, though, you have a collision of two pretty iconic characters that exist in the Marvel Ancillary Universe [laughs], we’re in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this point,”

Ryan Reynold later admitted that there will be a balance between the characters’ tones and they will eventually find a way to service both Deadpool and Wolverine and make them feel extraordinarily authentic to their roots and assured fans about their future by stating, “I think these two wrongs actually will make a right in a pretty great way.”

Ryan Reynold promises to protect Hugh Jackman’s legacy as Wolverine

Although Hugh Jackman previously clarified that the legacy of Logan won’t be hampered as Deadpool 3 is going to take place before the movie’s events, the Deadpool actor has the same say regarding the legacy of the mutant.

Ryan Reynolds promises to protect Hugh Jackman’s memorable run as the clawed mutant in FOX X-Men films and says that the actor will remain angrier, grumpy and acerbic as his previous iterations but with an added element of humor that would feel right at home with the MCU. On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actor expressed,

“Bringing in Wolverine, yeah. We figured out a way to do it that Hugh Jackman approved and Kevin Feige approved, where we’re completely protecting the legacy of Logan, the way it was left off. We wouldn’t mess with that. And I’m excited about it.”

Although  Ryan Reynold and Hugh Jackman will provide exceptional performances from their side, the whole team needs to provide a combined effort to hit the ball out of the park, and with Marvel allowing full freedom to the Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy and its plethora of talented writers, it wouldn’t be wrong to get our hopes high for the threequel.

Deadpool 3 will hit theatres on November 8, 2024.
