Man Utd are open to loaning out the striker that banged in 600 goals at youth level who they snagged from Manchester City.

Charlie McNeil joined the Red Devils in 2020 for £750,000 from City after wowing the Red Devils with his incredulous penchant for goals. Funnily enough, the 19-year-old started his career with United before City signed him in 2014, but his staggering 600 goals for their rivals put him back on the Red Devils’ radar and they were able to lure him back six years later.

But despite his attacking prowess. United are willing to ship the striker out on loan so he can gain experience, according to the UTD Plug. And the England Youth star is said to be open to a temporary switch away from Carrington to get some vital playing time under his belt.

A foray into new pastures makes sense for the striker as it’s unlikely that he’ll break into United’s first team this season with the likes of Marcus Rashford, who also shot through the ranks at United’s academy, holding fort upfront. And McNeil isn’t short of options as a slew of Football League clubs are keen on signing him in January’s transfer window, the report adds.

McNeil’s had a quiet season in the Premier League 2 this season by his high standards, bagging just one goal in 12 games thus far. In his first season back with the Red Devils, he scored 24 goals in 21 appearances in the Premier League’s U18 competition.

He followed that up by scoring 17 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions last season, including a hat-trick against Bayern Munich which was described as “normal” by his team-mate Zidane Iqbal. And McNeil’s impressive goal return hasn’t gone unnoticed by United boss Erik ten Hag who gave him his first start for the club’s first team in their 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad in their Europa League group stage clash in September last year.

McNeil will be optimistic about his chances to feature in United’s first team when he returns from loan following the success of fellow youngster and striker Alejandro Garnacho. The 18-year-old hitman has been a revelation under Ten Hag for United this season, and with McNeil’s goal return, it’s evident that he could be the next star to shine at Old Trafford.
