Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd interested in signing ‘unplayable’ Arsenal youngster

Transfer expert David Ornstein has confirmed that Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are all interested in signing Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri.

The 16-year-old became the youngest player in Premier League history when he came off the bench against Brentford in September, and is widely considered one of England’s most exciting prospects.

He has regularly turned out for both the U-18 and U-21 teams’ this season, and recently scored for England against Croatia at the European Under-17 Championship in Hungary.

In turn, Nwaneri has attracted interest from across the Premier League, with a number of clubs eager to poach him before he signs a professional deal at the Emirates.

Ornstein has since dropped an update on the attacking midfielder’s situation, revealing that Arsenal will do their utmost to persuade him to stay in north London.

Ornstein drops update on Nwaneri

Ornstein told The Athletic: “Nwaneri’s schoolboy registration finishes in June and the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are monitoring.

“Arsenal have not given up hope of convincing him to accept their offer and new dialogue has recently taken place, although all parties are awaiting a decision.”

Mikel Arteta will be desperate not to lose the talented teenager, having seen the likes of Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson all break into the first team from Arsenal’s famous Hale End academy.

While former Gunners midfielder and current U18 coach Jack Wilshere labelled him “unplayable” following his brace in a 3-3 draw with Manchester United in December.

Wilshere said: “In the second half, he was very good. He was unplayable at times. He had a few good moments. In the second half, a lot of players stepped up a level, we found some more space.

“We spoke to them a little bit at half-time about a few tactical things which allowed Ethan to free up. We had a really good balance in the team and Ethan was good in the second half.”

In some good news for supporters, Ornstein revealed that fellow England teammate Myles Lewis-Skelly has agreed terms to stay at Arsenal.
