HIT MAN I’m John Wick’s stunt driver – how I taught Keanu incredible drifting skills for his latest blockbuster film

Movie-goers have been left stunned at the awesome driving scenes in the latest John Wick blockbuster.

Keanu Reeves is back and tearing up the place as the former hitman who has a big price on his head.

There’s loads of great cars involved, including a 1971 Plymouth Barracuda muscle car, with Reeves having to polish his skills in the driving department to pull off some jaw-dropping stunts.

Producers pulled in Tanner Foust, a racer and stunt driver who’s behind some of Hollywood’s best car chase scenes in films such as Ford v Ferrari, Need for Speed, The Bourne Legacy, Iron Man 2 and Fast & Furious.

“The whole goal of my job, essentially, was not to drive,” he explained to TopGear.com.

“I had to put the wig and the beard on and do the stunts, at least once, so it was in the can.

Tanner goes on to say that there were six individual driving manoeuvres that Keanu was able to learn and consistently perform on camera – with the scriptwriters apparently then writing the scene around those moves.

“And he was awesome, Tanner said.

“He had to do it all one-handed while holding a gun and sometimes reloading it mid-drift.

“That gave the film guys the opportunity to rip the doors and windscreen off so you could see it was him doing it all.

When asked how he rated Keanu’s driving skills, Tanner replied “I think he’s a solid eight.

“I’m very picky. He’s definitely the best of any actor I’ve worked with.

“Like I said, what really helps is he comes from motorcycles, where you learn not to slide the front tyre. With cars, if you’ve already learned that, you’re good.”
